Position Overview

We are seeking a Custodian to assist the Custodial Coordinator in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of campus facilities. Your responsibilities will cover various cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, event setups, restroom sanitation, wall washing, whiteboard cleaning, trash removal, and upkeep of cleaning equipment. Uniforms and protective gear will be supplied and are mandatory to wear during work hours. This role reports to the Custodial Coordinator and ultimately to the Executive Director of Plant Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all buildings remain clean and hygienic to provide a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Support student recruitment and retention by maintaining attractive and sanitary facilities.
  • Uphold a culture of fairness and consistency in interactions across all campus community members.
  • Contribute to maintaining departmental safety standards.
  • Carry out cleaning and maintenance tasks throughout the year, following guidance from supervisors.
  • Work independently while efficiently performing duties such as event preparation, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash disposal.
  • Safely lift loads up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks.
  • Perform additional assignments as necessary to support department objectives.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Understand and apply relevant safety procedures pertaining to custodial work.
  • Operate custodial machinery competently, including carpet shampooers, buffers, and vacuums.
  • Communicate effectively in both individual and group environments.
  • Build and sustain positive working relationships within the campus community.
  • Receive instructions from supervisors and act as a proponent for departmental initiatives.

Qualification Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of three years of custodial experience is necessary.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Compensation and Additional Information

The salary ranges from $28,150 to $33,077 annually. Applications will be reviewed starting at least one week after the job posting date.
