Its US headquarters is in Chicago’s Fulton Market district, with an additional office in New York City, alongside field sales teams, service centers, and Dyson Demo Stores across the country. Dyson values an on-campus working model that encourages collaboration, learning, and a strong social culture.

Role overview

The VP Finance for US & Canada will report to the Global Senior Director, Global Markets and act as a strategic partner to the market leadership team. This role is responsible for steering commercial direction and financial performance across all channels and categories in the region. It owns planning, analysis, and reporting for the market, contributes directly to growth and profitability, and helps build a high-performing finance function with strong governance and talent development.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will provide market-level finance leadership covering core CFO responsibilities and partner closely with business leaders to convert strategy into financial results.

  • Lead the full finance agenda for the market, including accounting, reporting, controls, FP&A, treasury, taxation, risk oversight, and investment evaluation.
  • Work with US leadership to define commercial strategy and support growth through disciplined financial planning.
  • Share ownership of P&L performance with the Market GM by managing risk, capturing opportunities, and improving results.
  • Run the annual budget, forecast, and performance review cycles in line with strategic goals.
  • Ensure strong accounting practices, reporting quality, governance, and internal controls that meet local GAAP, statutory, and corporate expectations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, operational efficiency, procurement improvement, and better purchasing practices across the US & Canada.
  • Prepare clear, insight-led business analysis and narratives for regional and global stakeholders, including sell-in/sell-out, working capital, and trade stock trends.
  • Build financial rigor within commercial teams by providing training, coaching, and practical support.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing finance team while supporting development and mobility across regions.
  • Serve as the main external finance contact for regulators, auditors, banks, and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage capital allocation, assess major investments, and support decisions related to retail, media, and brand spend to improve returns.
  • Collaborate effectively with global, regional, and local partners to stay aligned on governance, compliance, and day-to-day operations.
  • Monitor the competitive environment closely and bring fresh thinking to financial strategy and market positioning.

Candidate profile

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a similar discipline is required.
  • A master’s degree such as an MBA, or a professional qualification such as CPA, ACA, or ACCA, is strongly preferred but not compulsory.
  • 12 to 15 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or business leadership, including significant exposure to multinational environments.
  • At least 5 years in a senior management or director-level role with direct ownership of P&L, team leadership, and executive-level engagement.
  • Proven strength in P&L management, budgeting, and commercial finance.
  • Solid understanding of financial drivers, contract management, and the retail landscape, including trade terms and promotions.
  • A strong record of improving cost efficiency, transforming processes, and building sound governance practices.
  • Experience representing the business externally and working closely with senior and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to lead in a matrix structure.
  • Highly resilient, action-oriented, strategic, and comfortable switching between detailed analysis and big-picture thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, develop, and lead diverse teams locally and across regions.
