Role Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Curve Royalty Systems holds the senior-most finance leadership role and acts as an essential strategic partner to the CEO. This position encompasses complete financial stewardship including commercial insight, planning, financial controls, compliance, treasury operations, and the overall development and structure of the finance department. Beyond accounting responsibilities, the CFO is pivotal in guiding commercial decision-making and shaping business strategy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CEO and sales leadership on pricing strategies, investment evaluation, contract negotiations, and strategic business planning.
- Lead the formulation of annual budgets and implement rolling forecasts for consistent financial planning.
- Develop dynamic financial models, including scenario analysis, headcount projections, and cash flow runway management.
- Analyze SaaS unit economics such as Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), Lifetime Value (LTV), payback periods, gross margins by product or segment, and net revenue retention metrics.
- Monitor Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) movements—new business, expansions, contractions, and churn—to assess revenue health.
- Evaluate and report performance against financial plans, proactively identifying risks and proposing solutions.
- Work closely with VP Sales / US General Manager to analyze deal economics and support VP Client Success with financial insights on account health.
- Oversee the month-end close process and production of monthly management accounts.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition practices and maintain strong financial controls, reconciliations, and a clean general ledger.
- Maintain up-to-date cash flow forecasts and ensure ongoing visibility into the company’s cash position and runway.
- Provide clear, timely financial reports to the CEO and leadership team.
- Manage treasury functions including banking relationships, cash forecasting, and working capital management.
- Ensure the company complies with financial regulations across all operating jurisdictions and meets all filing obligations such as VAT, corporation tax, and statutory accounts, working through external advisers as necessary.
- Maintain robust financial control policies and oversee the payroll process at a governance level.
- Lead the finance team development and own the financial systems and tools.
- Establish and optimize finance processes, structures, and tooling, including billing and payments systems.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the finance function.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the board, translating complex data into narratives that highlight risks, opportunities, and financial health including budget comparisons and cash positions.
- Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, banks, and third-party financial service providers.
Reporting Structure and Key Interfaces
- Directly reports to the CEO focusing on financial strategy, business performance, and governance.
- Manages the Finance Operations Manager who handles daily financial operations including billing, accounts payable/receivable, and supporting management reports.
- Collaborates internally with the Board of Directors, VP Operations, VP Client Success, US GM/VP Sales, and all Vice Presidents on various financial and operational matters.
- Liaises with external partners such as accountants, tax advisors, banking institutions, and payment platforms.
