Job description

About Roku

Roku is a leading TV streaming platform with a mission to connect the entire television ecosystem. The company enables viewers to find and enjoy the content they love, helps publishers grow and monetize audiences, and gives advertisers powerful ways to reach consumers. It is a fast-moving public company where every team member is expected to contribute meaningfully from day one.

The User Experience team brings together UX designers, researchers, and writers to work alongside product and engineering partners in creating simple, polished, and enjoyable experiences for customers.

About the Role

Roku is seeking an experienced UX Product Designer with strong mobile interaction design expertise to lead the design of important mobile streaming experiences. The role centers on mobile streaming flows, including subscription and account management.

What You Will Do

  • Shape and deliver mobile app features that improve content discovery, playback, and account or content management experiences.
  • Explain design decisions clearly and produce strong design artifacts such as wireframes, user flows, and detailed specs.
  • Take part in the full product lifecycle, from discovery and research through ideation and A/B testing.
  • Join and contribute to design reviews with stakeholders across the business.
  • Use both qualitative and quantitative insights to make decisions centered on user needs.
  • Work with product managers to define the user problems and business objectives the design should solve.
  • Collaborate with user researchers to choose and run the right research methods for insight gathering and design validation.

Hiring Process

The selection process starts with a recruiter call, followed by a conversation with the Hiring Manager. Candidates will then complete a 35-minute portfolio presentation to a four-person cross-functional panel of designers, researchers, and product managers, covering selected projects, personal contribution, design process, outcomes, and learnings. Final steps include one-on-one follow-up conversations with panel members.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in mobile product design.
  • Proven ability to create effective and engaging consumer mobile app experiences, with solid understanding of both Material Design and iOS guidelines.
  • Background in designing streaming experiences, including awareness of typical content and asset constraints.
  • Experience building reusable patterns and components across multiple product surfaces such as mobile and tablet.
  • Comfort working in uncertain environments and iterating quickly on design solutions.
  • Track record of working with product managers, developers, and leadership to refine concepts through rapid iteration while meeting user and business goals.
  • Practical experience partnering with user researchers, or conducting research independently, and applying findings to design work.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to building high-quality, world-class experiences.
  • High level of empathy for end users.

Work Model

Roku follows a hybrid setup in which teams work from the office Monday through Thursday, while Fridays are generally remote and flexible, unless a role or office policy requires five in-office days.

Benefits

Roku offers a broad benefits package intended to support employees and their families. Depending on location and role, this may include mental health and financial wellness resources, healthcare coverage such as medical, dental, and vision, life, accident, and disability insurance, commuter support, retirement options such as 401(k) or pension plans, and time off aligned with local leave policies. Availability varies by location and role.

Accommodations

Roku provides reasonable accommodations and adjustments in line with applicable law for applicants from all backgrounds. If you need support during the hiring process, you can contact EmployeeRelations@Roku.com.

Culture and Applicant Notice

Roku describes its culture as fast-paced, collaborative, and focused on company success. The company values talented people who work well together, keep ego in check, act boldly, move quickly, and solve problems pragmatically. Roku also notes that applicants acknowledge the company’s Applicant Privacy Notice when sharing their information and may opt out of future communications by emailing WorkforcePrivacy@Roku.com.
