Job description

About the role

This leadership position is focused on building and scaling commerce and payment partnerships that make purchasing easier for households across Latin America and other international markets. The role centers on sourcing, negotiating, and closing strategic commercial agreements with regional acquirers, fintech wallets, alternative payment methods, gift card issuers, and banking or issuer partners.

The initial market priority is Mexico, with expansion planned for Brazil and additional LATAM countries. The work will help improve payment-method-on-file adoption, strengthen conversion, and generate measurable financial impact. Over time, the position will create repeatable partnership models, commercial structures, and market launch playbooks that can be reused in new regions.

This is a highly visible role that requires close collaboration with advertising, payments platform, engineering, operations, product management, legal, and finance teams. It is well suited to a commercially driven leader who can operate effectively in complex, multi-market environments and help grow a global commerce ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, structure, negotiate, and finalize commercial partnerships, co-promotion opportunities, and renewals with payment partners in Mexico, including regional acquirers, fintech wallets, alternative payment methods, and gift card providers.
  • Negotiate commercial arrangements covering pricing, consumer incentives, co-marketing initiatives, and volume-based rebates tailored to local market conditions.
  • Create partner-funded promotional programs that lower the friction for first-time purchases in Mexico and other LATAM markets.
  • Adapt the Mexico partnership model for Brazil and other emerging LATAM markets, including local acquirers, digital wallets, and instant payment methods.
  • Oversee regional acquirer relationships for commercial agreements spanning multiple countries where relevant.
  • Document deal frameworks, partnership approaches, and go-to-market playbooks so they can be applied in other international markets.
  • Spot repeatable patterns in partner segmentation, incentive economics, and integration needs to speed up launches in new geographies.
  • Build strong business cases with clear financial logic, including revenue upside, cost reduction, and return on consumer incentive spend.
  • Monitor rebate realization and the performance of incentive programs across the region.
  • Work with the advertising team on partner-funded promotional budgets and subscription growth initiatives.
  • Partner with payments platform, engineering, and operations teams on the technical integrations needed for regional payment methods.
  • Bring regional market insights to Product Management, including local requirements, consumer behavior, and competitive dynamics.
  • Advise on how billing structures, regulatory considerations, and settlement processes influence partner agreements.
  • Maintain executive-level relationships with fintech, acquirer, and banking leaders, while representing the company at industry events and forums in the region.

Qualifications and experience

  • More than 10 years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or commercial roles in payments or fintech, with substantial international exposure; LATAM experience is strongly preferred and Mexico experience is ideal.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong understanding of emerging-market payment ecosystems, including cash-based methods, local wallets, cross-border acquiring, alternative banks, and regulatory environments across LATAM.
  • Proven success in closing complex commercial agreements with regional fintech and financial services organizations, especially in matrixed environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to create business cases with measurable P&L impact in emerging or developing payments markets.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English; Portuguese is an added advantage.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Product, Engineering, Platform, Operations, Finance, Legal, and business teams.
  • Strong executive presence and credibility with C-suite partners and senior internal stakeholders.
  • BA/BS degree required; MBA or another advanced degree is preferred.

Work environment

The role follows a hybrid work model. Teams are generally in the office Monday through Thursday, with Fridays available for remote work unless the role requires five days on site or the office has a five-day in-office policy.

These may include access to mental health and financial wellness resources, as well as local statutory and optional benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life, accident, disability, commuter, and retirement options like 401(k) or pension plans. Time off is provided in line with local leave policies and personal needs. Benefit availability may vary by location and role.

Accommodations

Reasonable accommodations and workplace adjustments are available in line with applicable law. Candidates who need support during the hiring process can request assistance through the employer’s employee relations contact.
