This role is with a family-run Relais & Châteaux hotel on Vancouver Island’s West Coast in Tofino, British Columbia. Role Overview
As a Pastry Cook, you will support the pastry program at The Pointe Restaurant through hands-on preparation, baking, plating, and presentation of a broad range of desserts and baked goods. You will help maintain top culinary standards while contributing fresh ideas and staying aligned with the restaurant’s quality-focused approach.
What You Will Do
- Prepare and bake pastries, desserts, and other baked items according to established recipes and production targets.
- Create finished products that are attractive, consistent, and suited to an elevated dining experience.
- Work to schedule so items are completed accurately and on time.
- Keep the workstation clean, orderly, and compliant with food safety and sanitation expectations.
- Partner with the broader culinary team to develop new pastry items and seasonal menu additions.
- Track baking ingredients and supplies, with attention to freshness and correct storage.
- Support pastry preparation and presentation for events and special functions.
- Stay current on pastry methods and trends and bring new ideas to the menu.
- Handle special guest requests, dietary needs, and menu adjustments as required.
- Maintain records related to food, supplies, and equipment.
- Deliver guest service that aligns with the property’s luxury hospitality standards.
- Work collaboratively while also being capable of handling tasks independently when needed.

Qualifications and Experience
- Comfort working in a team-based, learning-oriented environment with a commitment to high hospitality standards.
- Strong guest service ability and a track record of exceeding expectations.
- Pastry cook experience or a similar role, supported by a strong portfolio of pastry work.
- At least 1 year of experience in a fine dining environment or a comparable setting.
- Knowledge of baking methods, pastry decoration, and dessert presentation.
- Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a busy, fast-moving kitchen.
- Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive work style.
- Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to commit to the role for an agreed and mutually understood period of time.
- Culinary school training or a related certification is considered an asset.
