Job description

About the role

Join the IT team at The Wickaninnish Inn, a family-run Relais & Châteaux property on Vancouver Island’s west coast in Tofino, British Columbia. Since 1996, the inn has been known for creating exceptional guest experiences in a setting celebrated for its natural beauty and world-class hospitality. The property is recognized by Forbes, Michelin Key, AAA Four Diamond, and Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Hotels.

The organization places strong emphasis on belonging, respect, sustainability, and service excellence. This position offers the chance to contribute to reliable day-to-day technology support in a hospitality environment while also helping maintain systems, standards, and user support processes.

What you will do

The IT Support Specialist will provide hands-on technical assistance to both employees and guests, help keep the resort’s systems running smoothly, and support the IT Manager with operational tasks and projects.

  • Align daily work with the Inn’s mission and uphold the “5 C” standards, along with Relais & Châteaux, Forbes, AAA, and Wickaninnish Inn service philosophies.
  • Deliver prompt support for hardware, software, network, and other technology-related issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems quickly to reduce interruptions to operations.
  • Help maintain and refresh the property’s technology infrastructure, including computers, servers, and network hardware.
  • Carry out routine checks and preventive maintenance to keep systems performing well.
  • Support staff in setting up and using devices and software applications.
  • Offer guidance and training on secure and efficient technology use.
  • Record and monitor incidents and service requests through the helpdesk system.
  • Escalate more complex issues to the IT Manager or outside vendors when needed.
  • Assist with tracking IT assets, software, and licenses.
  • Make sure equipment is properly documented, maintained, and accounted for.
  • Keep clear records of incidents, fixes, and system settings.
  • Contribute to the creation and updating of IT standards, procedures, and user documentation.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will bring a hospitality-minded approach, strong technical know-how, and a commitment to service quality. The inn values candidates who reflect the West Coast culture and can contribute positively to a diverse and inclusive workplace.

  • Strong guest service orientation, with a genuine drive to exceed expectations.
  • An associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in IT support, ideally in hospitality.
  • Solid understanding of computer hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity basics.
  • Working knowledge of programming and web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and SQL is an advantage, along with exposure to Laravel and LAMP.
  • Familiarity with Fortinet firewalls, VPNs, and Cisco switching.
  • Experience with virtualization tools, including Linux KVM.
  • Good command of Microsoft Active Directory and hybrid Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
  • Ability to commit to the role for a mutually agreed period.

The hourly wage for this position is $24.00.
