Part-time Adult Education Tutor - Buckinghamshire

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our Forensic Mental Health Service as an Adult Education Tutor. This part-time position entails 15 hours per week across our services in Milton Keynes and Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

Key Responsibilities

The tutor will facilitate a risk-assessed, secure, and organised learning environment adhering strictly to security guidelines. Creating a positive and supportive atmosphere is vital, encouraging skill development and learner confidence. They will employ diverse teaching methods tailored to varied learners, assess progress regularly, and offer constructive feedback to enhance advancement.

The role involves ensuring continuous accreditation with Ascentis and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide high-quality programmes aligned with learners' aspirations.

Duties

• Manage specific workload as a tutor and assessor providing individual and group tuition to service users.
• Meet individual and service targets alongside accreditation quality standards efficiently.
• Operate both independently and as part of the Thames Valley Forensic Mental Health Service.
• Develop, review, and agree on Individual Learning Plans with learners, regularly monitoring and supporting their progress to maximize achievement within set timeframes.
• Maintain thorough records of assessments and training using established electronic systems.
• Contribute to the quality assurance processes of awards and programme delivery, including updating measures as advised by Awarding Body External Verifiers.
• Create lesson plans and training materials for underpinning education, vocational qualifications, and internal certifications.
• Pursue ongoing professional development.
• Provide feedback on areas requiring improvement or policy gaps.
• Ensure teaching rooms are fully equipped, stocked, and functional according to internal procedures.
• Participate in supervision sessions as per Trust policies.
