About art-K Maidstone
art-K Maidstone is a children's art club located in Kent, catering to young artists aged between 6 and 16 years. The club employs a variety of artistic media and instructional methods to expose students to diverse art styles and three-dimensional projects. With a nationwide network of over 50 branches serving more than 8,000 students, art-K utilizes a thoroughly developed curriculum that effectively imparts fundamental artistic skills to children. A passion for art and education is central to art-K's philosophy, and they are searching for a motivated, friendly, and practical Art Assistant to enhance their team.
Role Responsibilities
- Preparing art supplies including mixing paints and setting up materials.
- Providing encouragement and support to children as they work on their art projects.
- Assisting in reinforcing key artistic skills among students.
- Maintaining cleanliness and order before and after art sessions.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A strong grade (7-9) in Art GCSE.
- Good understanding of artistic principles such as tone and perspective.
- Previous experience engaging with children is advantageous.
- A positive, proactive mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing Art A Level, Foundation course, or a degree in Art.
- Residence within 30 minutes commute of the Maidstone branch.
Work Schedule and Conditions
- Position is part-time and self-employed on a zero-hours basis.
- Sessions to cover Saturdays from 08:30 to 10:45 and 10:45 to 13:00.
- Availability during school holiday workshops (Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00) with variable shifts based on bookings.
Compensation
Hourly pay ranges from £8.79 to £13.64.
