About art-K Jesmond
art-K Jesmond is an established art club located in Tyne and Wear, catering to children aged 6 to 16. The club offers instruction across various artistic mediums and techniques, including 3D projects, to help young students develop a broad set of art skills.
As part of a wider network with over 50 locations nationwide and more than 8,000 students enrolled, art-K follows a proven curriculum designed to impart fundamental artistic skills effectively.
Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated, friendly, and hands-on Art Assistant who shares our passion for art education to join our team. The position involves supporting art sessions through preparation, encouragement, and practical assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare art materials including mixing paints.
- Support and motivate children with their creative projects.
- Teach and reinforce core art skills and techniques.
- Set up art sessions and ensure clear-up afterwards.
Requirements
- Minimum Art GCSE qualification with a grade between 7 and 9.
- Strong understanding of artistic methods, especially tone and perspective.
- Preferably, experience working with children.
- Demonstrate a positive and proactive approach.
Desirable Qualifications
- Currently studying or holding an Art A level, Foundation course, or Art degree.
- Residency within a 30-minute commute of the Jessmond location.
Schedule and Compensation
This part-time, zero-hours contract role covers summer holiday workshops specifically on 11th–13th and 19th–21st August. Workshops generally run Monday to Friday during school holidays, with studio hours from 9am to 5pm. Shift schedules will be coordinated with the Branch Manager and depend on student bookings.
The role pays between £8.79 and £13.64 per hour.
