About art-K Oxford
art-K Oxford is an art club located in Oxford dedicated to children aged 6 to 16. The club employs diverse artistic mediums and teaching styles to impart a broad spectrum of artistic skills, including 3D projects. With over 50 branches nationally and more than 8000 students, art-K has established a successful program that effectively teaches essential art techniques to young learners. The organization is passionate about fostering a love of art among students and seeks a motivated, personable, and practical Art Assistant to join the team.
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare painting materials by mixing paints and getting supplies ready
- Support and motivate children during their artistic projects
- Help children grasp and practice various art techniques
- Assist with setting up before sessions and cleaning up afterwards
Qualifications and Experience
- Achievement of GCSE Art with grades between 7 and 9
- Strong understanding of artistic methods, including tone and perspective
- Previous experience working with children is preferred
- A positive, proactive approach to work
Desirable Attributes
- Currently pursuing Art A-Level, Foundation Course, or an Art degree
- Residence within a 30-minute commute to the Oxford branch
Working Hours and Schedule
- Part-time zero-hours contract to cover sessions:
- Monday: 5:15 pm - 7:15 pm
- Saturday: 8:30 am - 10:45 am, and 10:45 am - 1:00 pm
- During school holidays and half-term breaks, work is on an as-needed basis in alignment with workshop and studio needs
- The studio operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm during holidays, with usually two workshops daily
- Shift times are coordinated between the Art Assistant and Branch Manager
Compensation
The hourly wage ranges between £8.79 and £13.64.
