About art-K Earley
art-K Earley is a children's art club located in Berkshire that serves youngsters aged between 6 and 16 years. The club utilizes a varied set of artistic media and teaching methods to instruct children in a broad spectrum of art styles including 3D projects. art-K has an established network of over 50 branches nationwide and educates more than 8,000 students, with a proven curriculum designed to develop core artistic skills and techniques effectively.
Role Overview
We seek a committed, approachable, and hands-on Art Assistant to join our dedicated team. The position involves mixing paints, preparing artist materials, supporting children during their creative projects, fostering their development of art skills, and managing setup and cleanup tasks after sessions. Comprehensive training will be provided.
Requirements
- Achieved grade 7-9 in Art GCSE.
- Strong understanding of artistic techniques including tone and perspective.
- Preferably experienced in working with children.
- Demonstrates a proactive and positive approach.
Desirable Attributes
- Currently pursuing Art A-level, Foundation course, or a degree in Art.
- Residence within a 30-minute commute from the branch.
Work Schedule
This part-time, self-employed (zero-hours contract) role involves coverage of sessions during after-school hours and weekends:
- Tuesday: 15:15–17:15 and 16:50–18:50
- Wednesday: 15:45–17:45
- Saturday: 08:30–10:45, 10:30–12:45, 13:30–15:45
During school holidays and half terms, work is offered on demand aligned with workshop delivery and studio needs. Holiday studio hours operate Monday through Friday, 09:00–17:00, typically offering two workshop sessions daily. Scheduling of shifts will be arranged between the Art Assistant and Branch Manager.
Compensation
The hourly pay ranges from £8.79 to £13.64.
