Role Overview
The Advancement Office seeks a Manager to spearhead Annual Giving initiatives at SUSS. This role involves strategic collaboration to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors contributing to Annual Giving campaigns. The incumbent will support senior leadership in developing and executing campaign strategies and work closely with volunteers, academic staff, and university leaders to embed a culture of philanthropy at SUSS.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, coordinate, and expand all Annual Giving campaigns such as online drives, direct mail, newsletters, and fundraising events.
- Proactively pinpoint, create, and facilitate engagement opportunities for annual donors to maximize both financial contributions and non-financial support.
- Conduct research and produce compelling funding proposals and appeal letters as necessary.
- Be accountable for meeting or surpassing established fundraising targets and associated metrics.
- Maintain and grow individual donor relationships emphasizing retention and increased giving.
- Partner with colleagues to align efforts supporting departmental and university-wide objectives.
- Ensure timely documentation recording donor commitments.
- Support hosting and managing various fundraising and development events.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- At least five years of experience in managing fundraising campaigns focused on Annual Giving and appeals.
- A proactive and energetic approach, comfortable engaging with donors, partners, multiple teams, and stakeholders concurrently.
- Proven success in complex sales or equivalent experience demonstrating relevant knowledge and skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities with a talent for collaboration and building consensus among diverse groups with differing perspectives.
- Self-motivated, energetic, detail-oriented professional equipped to work diplomatically with alumni, donors, faculty, administrators, volunteers, and other constituents.
- Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the capability to advocate credibly for higher education and the university’s mission.
- Customer service-driven mindset, committed to upholding the university’s philanthropic goals and values.
- Demonstrated active listening and negotiation skills facilitating positive outcomes.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality concerning donor and prospect information.
- Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and donor management databases.
