Role Overview
The Human Resources Coordinator plays a crucial administrative role within the HR department, supporting an active and complex mechanical construction project located in Lancaster, PA. This fast-paced site includes both union and non-union workers. The position requires hands-on assistance with employee onboarding, HR systems management, employee relations, and general HR support for onsite project leadership.
This role demands meticulous attention to detail, excellent customer service capabilities, sound judgment, and effective collaboration skills.
Work Environment
Based onsite at a busy construction project, the Coordinator will operate from a field trailer, engaging directly with employees and leadership throughout the project lifecycle. Working conditions may include exposure to dust, noise, variable weather, and physical demands typical of a construction site, requiring appropriate safety attire such as work boots.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clerical and customer service support to the HR team and project leadership.
- Assist HR Generalists with new hire processes including paperwork and I-9 verification.
- Manage new hire background checks and drug screenings.
- Create and maintain employee personnel files.
- Update and manage EEO data tracking spreadsheets.
- Conduct employment verifications as needed.
- Handle termination processing and perform exit interviews.
- Support scheduling interviews and drafting offer letters when required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the HR function.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong oral and written communication capabilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills coupled with strong customer service focus.
- Highly organized with detailed attention orientation.
- Efficient time management skills, able to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to perform well in a dynamic, fast-moving, and occasionally stressful environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of human resource principles and practices is advantageous.
- Familiarity with construction industry or union workforce is a benefit.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related discipline and/or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of two years of experience in HR or administrative roles.
- Certification such as SHRM-CP or HRCI is considered a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 annually, varying according to relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
