About the Role
The New York office of Fragomen seeks a proactive and customer-focused People Specialist to manage daily People operations and foster a positive employee experience. This role involves close collaboration with local leaders, employees, and the wider People team to provide practical support in onboarding, responding to employee inquiries, managing Workday processes, ensuring compliance, coordinating office programs, and promoting operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a dependable and approachable point of contact for employee questions, routing issues appropriately and ensuring follow-up with care.
- Facilitate onboarding and offboarding processes including handling Workday inputs, preparing new hire materials, coordinating orientations, and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Support new hire orientation efforts, guide employees on Workday usage and time tracking procedures.
- Review and authorize time tracking submissions for specified non-exempt staff members.
- Maintain up-to-date and precise employee data within Workday and other related People systems.
- Assist with benefits orientation, deliver guidance on policies and local office protocols.
- Contribute to compliance activities, such as updating labor law posters and ensuring required notices are posted.
- Process employment verifications, reference checks, and various employee documentation requests.
- Support management of contingent workers, including invoice evaluation and expense allocation.
- Collaborate on office initiatives, special projects, organization charts, job description revisions, and event coordination.
- Identify and recommend improvements to processes to promote consistency and enhance employee satisfaction.
- Contribute positively to a diverse, inclusive, and solution-oriented organizational culture.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of one year experience in Human Resources, People Operations, or a related support role.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, with emphasis on Human Resources, business, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Workday or other HR Information Systems is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation with strong follow-through and sound judgment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively with employees across all levels including senior leaders.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to confidentiality.
- Flexibility to balance routine operational duties with changing business priorities.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Exposure to professional services or dynamic corporate settings is desirable.

Compensation
Salary varies based on individual qualifications such as skills, experience, certifications, work location, and applicable legislation, ensuring fairness and market alignment.
The estimated salary range for candidates working a hybrid local schedule is $70,000 to $83,000 annually.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment screening including identity verification, work authorization check, and background investigation where legally permitted.
