Role Summary
The Deputy Store Manager role involves supporting the Store Manager by overseeing and boosting sales, ensuring effective store operations, managing visual merchandising, enhancing customer service, and supervising staff motivation and retention, aligning with GMG standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Convey sales targets to store personnel and drive achievement of financial goals.
- Implement and uphold loss prevention protocols, ensuring cash handling, fraud prevention, and product security are maintained.
- Manage point-of-sale activities, including sales transactions, order and payment tracking, inventory updates, service, returns, refunds, and customer feedback collection.
- Oversee cash management for petty cash, POS cash components, and float changes.
- Conduct regular audits of store administration, address discrepancies, and assist with annual stock counts and spot inventories.
- Address customer complaints promptly and professionally, aligning with company policies.
- Analyze brand sales data, monitor market and competitor trends, and recommend strategies to enhance sales and profitability.
- Track and interpret sales reports to optimize stock utilization and evaluate collection performance.
- Maintain high standards of window and in-store merchandising as per guidelines.
- Supervise inventory control including stock availability, back store management, order processing, and intra-store stock movement.
- Ensure accurate merchandise management focusing on stock aging, shrinkage, and space optimization.
- Coordinate with facilities for furniture or equipment repairs and support maintenance initiatives to extend asset life.
- Maintain adequate staffing to meet operational demands and deliver superior customer service; manage scheduling and shift coverage, especially during peak seasons and promotional events.
- Train team members in inventory management practices covering receipt, stocking, restocking, transfers, and discrepancy resolution.
People Management
- Set clear objectives and performance indicators for staff and implement GMG’s performance management procedures.
- Promote talent development through coaching, mentoring, and guidance to support goal achievement.
- Encourage a culture of continuous feedback and staff improvement through regular coaching and identifying development needs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in any field.
- Have 3 to 4 years of relevant retail experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity within retail operations.
- Demonstrate industry-specific knowledge and understanding of product categories.
- Exhibit strong customer service orientation.
- Proficient with MS Office applications and retail tools.
