Communications and Engagement Officer

About the Role

Located in Parramatta, this position involves a variety of tasks related to developing and implementing effective communication and engagement processes within the organization. You will create materials for a range of projects, coordinate with multiple teams, and help ensure all communications efforts align with internal frameworks and policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Create a broad array of communication assets, such as media releases, newsletters, briefing notes, correspondence, online content, consultation summaries, and other required documents for diverse organizational initiatives.
• Assist in conceptualizing, shaping, and executing communication and engagement plans, ensuring that these are consistent with the organization's stakeholder engagement guidelines and overarching internal standards.
• Work closely with colleagues within the Communications & Engagement Team to foster a consistent and unified messaging approach throughout all projects and to address communication requirements as they arise.
• Engage with different project teams and stakeholders throughout the organization to support the successful completion of project goals through effective communication and engagement activities.
• Efficiently handle several projects and tasks simultaneously, ensuring attention to detail, stakeholder satisfaction, and strong results despite competing priorities.

Required Skills and Experience

• Holder of a relevant tertiary credential in communications, public policy, media, or a comparable area.
• Demonstrated experience building and delivering communication strategies, especially for challenging projects involving diverse and sometimes conflicting stakeholder perspectives.
• Background in a wide spectrum of communication and engagement activities, including experience working with community groups, government entities, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
• Knowledgeable in both media management and online/digital communication practices.
• Highly developed verbal and written communication abilities, with strengths in building relationships, managing conflict, and negotiation.
• Proficient strategic thinker, able to offer solutions to complex problems.
• Understanding of project management principles and practices.
