Position Overview

Salt & Shein is recruiting a seasoned communication leader to develop and enhance the public profile of a cutting-edge, research-focused Australian university situated in Parramatta, NSW, within Australia's fastest-growing region.

Key Responsibilities

• Craft and promote strategic narratives that align with the University's mission, values, and societal contributions.
• Lead media relations by fostering strong connections with journalists, facilitating proactive media outreach, and positioning the University as a leader in higher education and regional development.
• Manage an integrated communication unit encompassing external media, social media, internal communication, and crisis communications to ensure a unified and compelling institutional message.
• Provide expert guidance in managing reputational issues and crises with timely and precise communication strategies.
• Lead and develop a team of senior advisors and coordinators, promoting creativity, responsibility, and ongoing development.
• Work alongside faculties, research centers, government bodies, industry partners, alumni, and community organizations to broaden the University's voice and impact.

• Proven ability to establish and maintain trusted relationships with journalists and key stakeholders.
• Expertise in devising integrated media strategies to increase visibility and positive public perception.
• Compelling storytelling skills with the capacity to simplify complex projects into accessible messages.
• Demonstrated leadership skills that build confidence, trust, and high performance within teams.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
• Strong capability to manage complex, sensitive environments and multiple priorities efficiently and calmly.
