Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Solar Trade Assistant to join our installation teams in the Waikato District. This important role supports both the Hub Manager and Electricians in safely and efficiently installing solar panels and related systems on residential and commercial rooftops. This position may occasionally involve travel and overnight stays with fair rotation and minimal frequency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in installing solar panels, mounting frameworks, and electrical cabling on various rooftops for residential and commercial clients.
- Prepare, transport, and organize tools and materials essential for solar installation projects.
- Participate in stock management and warehouse organization as needed.
- Collaborate closely with electricians, roofers, and project leaders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Maintain high-quality workmanship and adherence to installation standards.
- Accurately document installation processes, complete safety records, and job reports.
- Comply with all safety guidelines, correctly use personal protective equipment, and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and management.
- Offer constructive feedback to enhance installation procedures and improve customer satisfaction.
- Exemplify Lightforce’s core values in all interactions with customers and colleagues.
- Engage actively in health & safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and proactive safety measures.
- Support additional operational duties vital to successful installation projects.
Candidate Requirements
- Practical experience in construction, roofing, or a related trade is preferred.
- Ability to work safely at heights and outdoors under varying weather conditions.
- Good physical condition with a strong focus on safe work practices.
- Attention to detail and pride in delivering quality workmanship.
- Effective communication skills and the capability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and flexibility in adapting to tasks.
- Valid New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
- Current work visa if applicable.
- Basic knowledge of solar installation is an advantage but not required, as training will be provided.
