About the Team

Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest hospital in Tasmania and serves as the tertiary referral center for all cardiothoracic surgery in the state through its Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit. As a major clinical teaching and research facility, RHH collaborates closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions to deliver outstanding healthcare aimed at enhancing outcomes for patients, staff, and the Tasmanian community.

Role Overview

The position involves maintaining cleanliness to a high standard across Hospitals South, ensuring proper removal of waste and the collection and distribution of linen in line with departmental policies.

  • Carry out general cleaning tasks, including floor and wall upkeep in offices, wards, corridors, restrooms, and other designated areas across the healthcare facility as assigned.
  • Perform various cleaning duties such as garbage removal and linen handling.
  • Apply safe manual handling techniques when operating equipment; promptly report any malfunctions to facilitate timely repairs.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in cleaning roles, preferably within hospital environments.
  • Familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment commonly used in the industry.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning procedures and chemicals.

Terms of Appointment

This is a fixed-term casual position lasting approximately 12 months, commencing as soon as possible. Work hours are flexible and will be negotiated, with availability required for daytime, evening, and night shifts during the week. Please note that the current selection process may be used to fill future similar casual vacancies within twelve months of the posting date.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The salary range is $59,668 to $65,185 per annum (pro rata), aligned with the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
  • Casual loading of 25%, equating to an hourly rate between $37.60 and $41.07.
  • An employer superannuation contribution of 12% is provided in addition to the salary.
  • Participation in salary packaging options, allowing benefits such as up to $9,010 yearly for living expenses and $2,650 for meal entertainment per FBT year, along with other advantages as eligible.
  • Access to the Fitness Passport program, granting discounted fitness facility access across Tasmania for individuals ($13.95/week) and families ($25.95/week).
