About the Role
The Oral Health Services Team within Tasmania's Department of Health is dedicated to providing top-tier oral healthcare. The team collaborates with dentists, dental technicians, clinicians, and administrative personnel to support dental appliance preparation, laboratory services, and overall patient care. Their focus is on quality, teamwork, and patient-centered service, crucial to ensuring efficient dental procedures and positive health outcomes across Tasmania.
Position Overview
This role entails offering administrative, logistical, and technical assistance to the Laboratory Manager and Senior Prosthetist to ensure high-quality dental lab services. Working collaboratively, the assistant helps maintain clinical and customer service standards for clients both inside and outside the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing dental models, including pouring diagnostic and duplicate models, digital scanning, trimming, and labeling to comply with Patient Identification standards.
- Oversee decontamination processes by maintaining and cleaning Hygojet equipment.
- Pour impressions and articulate models, ensuring smooth workflow by transferring these to dental technicians timely.
Additional Details
- This is a permanent full-time role, generally working 76 hours every fortnight, mainly during daytime. Working hours can be adjusted after negotiation.
- The selection process for this position may be used to fill future vacancies including full-time, part-time, or casual roles within a 12-month period.

Eligibility and Requirements
- Desirable qualifications include credentials in office administration, dental assisting, or dental technology.
- Possession of a current driver’s license is advantageous.
Compensation
The salary ranges from $70,033 to $75,114 annually, exclusive of an additional 12% superannuation contribution as per Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
