What this role owns

• Direct capital allocation decisions and build the internal and external case for the investments that matter most.
• Equip leadership with the financial clarity needed to invest confidently while keeping operations profitable and controlled.
• Shape the company’s long-term value creation and the liquidity pathways available to both employees and investors.
• Represent the company as the main financial contact for investors, partners, banks, and auditors.
• Build, recruit, and lead a lean finance team that uses AI effectively across an international group structure.
• Establish how finance should operate, collaborate with the rest of the business, and earn company-wide trust.

Requirements

This is a remote-first role with a distributed team, so candidates need strong day-to-day overlap with both EMEA and US Eastern time zones. The position reports to the CEO.

• Proven experience as a CFO who has guided finance through meaningful scale and created lasting value for a company and its shareholders.
• Strong background in international, multi-entity, and multi-currency environments.
• Solid command of cross-border tax and compliance matters, including US indirect tax, EU VAT, and Australian GST.
• Recognized accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or a locally accredited CPA, plus strong FP&A and financial modelling capability.
• Highly proactive communicator with strong ownership and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced remote setting.

Nice to have

• Experience in SaaS-enabled marketplaces, including forecasting both transactional GBV and recurring revenue.
• Background in travel, hospitality, or proptech.
• Experience building a finance function from founder-led operations into an institutional-grade team.

Benefits and compensation

• Total cash compensation of up to US$312,000 per year, with location-based adjustment for cost of living.
• Hiring can be done internationally as contractors, or as employees for candidates based in the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, or Australia, with payroll taxes considered in gross pay.
• Equity through $HOST token RSUs: a grant valued at US$436,800, vesting over four years, or about US$109,200 per year.
• For US employees, healthcare coverage including EPO, PPO, and HSA, plus a 401(k).
• 35 days of leave per year, including self-serve public holidays, along with parental leave.
• Access to mental health and emotional support via therapists available through Slack by Spill.
