Role overview
Moelis & Company is hiring an Analyst for its Industrials investment banking team in New York. The role suits someone who brings strong drive, sharp analytical thinking, and a genuine interest in the firm’s fast-paced culture.
Analysts in this group are expected to take on meaningful responsibility early. The work typically spans financial modeling, company and industry research, preparation of client-facing materials, and regular interaction with senior bankers and clients.
What you will do
- Assist senior team members with origination work, including building historical and forecast financial statements, analyzing the financial impact of mergers and acquisitions, and carrying out valuation work for public and private companies.
- Contribute to transaction execution through data collection, analysis, creation of presentation and deal materials, and ownership of standard deal processes such as documentation preparation.
- Develop and use valuation models based on financial research, including comparable company analysis, discounted cash flow analysis, and comparable acquisitions analysis.
- Prepare supporting materials needed for credit, compliance, engagement committee, and balance sheet approval processes.
- Support corporate operations reviews, portfolio analytics reviews, and risk/return valuation work.
- Collect, organize, and interpret market share information along with shareholder and investor profile data.
Skills and experience needed
- Strong analytical and numerical ability with comfort handling financial information.
- Ability to stay effective under pressure and deliver against demanding deadlines.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work smoothly across internal groups and with clients.
- Good multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, plus solid financial reporting capability.
Education
An undergraduate degree is required. Preferred academic backgrounds include finance, business, accounting, economics, or mathematics.
Additional information
Expected compensation for this position is USD $110,000 to $135,000 annually.
