Role Overview

The Secondary Advisory team focuses on strategic liquidity solutions for institutional investors and financial sponsors across private capital markets. Within this team, the LP-led practice specializes in advising limited partners such as pension funds, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, family offices, and funds-of-funds on portfolio sales and restructuring of private market investments. This team collaborates extensively across Moelis to deliver market intelligence, valuations, and expert execution to clients.

The Analyst will gain comprehensive exposure to LP-led secondary transactions including multi-fund and single-fund sales, preferred equity and structured solutions, NAV-based financing, and deferred closing structures. Working closely with senior colleagues, the Analyst will support high-quality client advisory and execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform due diligence and valuation analyses on portfolios, funds, and underlying companies across LP portfolios.
• Prepare marketing collateral such as portfolio summaries, teasers, and data books for transaction processes.
• Conduct robust financial modeling including portfolio valuations, NAV cash flow forecasting, pricing assessments, leverage buyout analysis, and waterfall models.
• Manage buy-side investor due diligence activities including coordinating data room access, facilitating reference calls, and responding to investor inquiries.
• Assist in drafting and coordinating due diligence materials between sellers and prospective secondary market buyers.
• Engage actively with Moelis industry and sponsor coverage teams to align client advice and market intelligence.
• Maintain detailed databases on secondary market deals, pricing benchmarks, buy-side investor profiles, and industry trends.
• Build relationships with buy-side entities such as dedicated secondary funds, family offices, sovereign wealth funds, insurance firms, and asset managers.
• Conduct ongoing secondary market research analyzing LP portfolio pricing, transaction volume, and liquidity dynamics.
• Undertake additional industry research tasks as needed.

Candidate Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree is required; prior internship or full-time roles in investment banking, private equity, or related financial services are preferred.
• A foundational knowledge or strong interest in private equity, especially the secondary market and institutional portfolio management, is important.
• Highly motivated individuals with a strong eagerness to learn and professional growth.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Creative problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information

This position is based in New York, USA and is a full-time onsite role. Compensation ranges between $110,000 and $135,000 annually.
