Role Overview
The Financial Analyst - Project Finance will be pivotal in structuring, financing, and managing Giga's infrastructure projects, including AI data centers, powered land developments, and OEM arrangements. This role involves hands-on financial modeling for deal structuring, investor return analyses, and capital allocation across a growing portfolio.
Work Environment
This position is primarily on-site in Houston or San Francisco offices, with bi-weekly work-from-home Fridays. Flexibility is possible for outstanding candidates living outside these hubs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project financial models covering AI data centers, powered land, and OEM projects.
- Analyze capital structures including debt, equity, cash flow waterfalls, IRR, and sensitivity scenarios.
- Assist in underwriting and prepare investment committee documentation for new project opportunities.
- Update financial models and budgets through project phases from development through operation.
- Review capital equipment bill of materials for financial accuracy.
- Support transaction structuring and execution for project financing including construction loans, term loans, tax equity, etc.
- Assist in preparing due diligence materials, financial projections, and investor communications.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align financial assumptions with project details.
- Monitor debt covenants, lender reporting, and maintain lender relations.
- Maintain budgets and dashboards tracking financial and construction milestones.
- Produce monthly and quarterly financial reports for leadership and investors.
- Identify risks such as cost overruns, schedule delays, offtake and supply chain vulnerabilities.
- Help develop standardized financial modeling templates for scalable project use.
- Collaborate with development, engineering, legal, and operations teams to ensure accurate financial modeling.
- Partner with Head of Project Finance on new deal structures and expanding into new markets.
- Contribute to the creation of Giga's project finance playbook and standard deal frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- 3 to 6 years in project finance or related fields such as infrastructure or energy finance, investment banking focused on power or utilities, or a corporate finance role with project-level modeling experience.
- Strong expertise in project-level modeling including debt sizing, cash flow waterfalls, IRR, and sensitivity analyses.
- Deep understanding of project finance mechanisms like construction financing, term loans, tax equity, DSCR covenants, and equity returns.
- Ability to interpret complex project contracts to extract financial inputs.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and independent financial model construction.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex financial concepts to non-finance teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with energy, data center, power generation, or infrastructure project finance.
- Knowledge of tax equity modeling including HLBV, ITC/PTC, and partnership flip structures.
- Familiarity with DSCR modeling, reserve accounts, and lender due diligence workflows.
- Hands-on experience in project financing closings or capital raises.
- MBA or CFA is advantageous.
- Skill with BI or financial planning tools like Tableau, Mosaic, or Anaplan.
