Role Overview
As a Financial Analyst specializing in Corporate FP&A at Giga Energy, you will be responsible for managing the financial systems essential to our company's expansion and operation. This includes budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and providing analytical expertise to help leadership make quick and informed decisions. You will engage closely with business unit leaders and executives to convert operational activity into actionable financial insights and strategic recommendations. This role offers an opportunity to work hands-on with the company’s entire P&L and build scalable financial systems.
Work Environment
The position is primarily onsite within our Houston or San Francisco offices to facilitate rapid, collaborative decision-making essential for physical infrastructure development. Our model supports full-time onsite work with bi-weekly work-from-home Fridays. Exceptional candidates outside these locations may discuss flexible arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead annual budgeting and continuous forecasting processes across all business units.
- Construct and maintain integrated financial models covering revenue, expenses, headcount, and capital investments across three financial statements.
- Implement detailed budget tracking and variance analyses, collaborating with business leaders to monitor financial drivers and risks.
- Assist with long-term planning and scenario assessments to guide strategic investments and company growth.
- Evaluate capital allocation decisions through project ROI analyses.
- Prepare executive business reports for monthly and quarterly review meetings.
- Streamline financial reporting by standardizing templates, automating data extraction, and shortening reporting cycles.
- Create detailed unit economic models and business case analyses for new initiatives and investments.
- Develop real-time business dashboards for metric tracking.
- Collaborate with multiple departments including sales, operations, manufacturing, and engineering to align financial planning with operational requirements.
- Translate complex financial information into clear narratives and actionable recommendations for stakeholders without finance backgrounds.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities, proactively alerting leadership with supporting analysis.
- Support strategic finance leadership with board materials, investor communications, and fundraising analyses.
- Drive continual improvement in financial tools, processes, and analytical frameworks to support company growth.
- Assist in evaluation and implementation of FP&A software and tools.
- Build repeatable, scalable financial models and templates.
- Leverage AI tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- 3 to 6 years of experience in corporate FP&A, business finance, financial planning, or similar corporate finance roles.
- Strong expertise in three-statement financial modeling, integrating P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Proven track record managing end-to-end budgeting and forecasting processes with collaboration across business units.
- Ability to distill complex financial data into intelligible business insights and narratives.
- Experience generating business reports on actual performance and budget variances.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets with the capability to independently develop complex models with a focus on precision and clarity.
- Excellent communication skills to explain financial outcomes to individuals without finance expertise.
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related disciplines.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Background in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, data centers, hyperscalers, manufacturing, or other capital-intensive industries.
- Experience supporting rapid scaling or fundraising activities within a company’s internal finance team.
- MBA degree or CFA certification.
- Familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools for automating financial reports.
- Experience using FP&A tools like Anaplan or Claude.
Benefits
- Employer-supported health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
- Equity participation through stock options in a rapidly expanding startup.
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching at 4%.
- Unlimited paid time off.
- Parental leave provisions.
- Access to Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
- Commuter benefits.
Candidate Profile
We seek individuals who excel in fast-moving, dynamic environments and who take initiative proactively. Ideal candidates are decisive and adaptable, able to act swiftly based on available information, and learn continuously. Perfection is not expected; getting results and moving forward efficiently is valued.
