Role Overview
HealthCorps is establishing a new Growth & Strategic Partnerships Division, with the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships & Growth leading the charge. This role involves managing a vast, high-impact portfolio that includes national funder and strategic partnerships, development, grant administration, fundraising, branding, marketing, and expanding alumni, community, and hub partnerships. The role requires collaboration with a national team and hub program managers to devise and implement this vision effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead external relationship cultivation alongside the CEO with various stakeholders including health systems, corporate sponsors, school districts, foundations, and community groups.
- Develop and steer a comprehensive partnership strategy aligning grantmaking, sponsorship, and program-based relationships with growth objectives.
- Maintain and expand a pipeline of prospective partnerships from initial contact through qualification and closure.
- Manage existing partnerships ensuring loyalty, maximizing value, and increasing renewals or upgrades.
- Monitor trends in funding and adjust positioning to anticipate market changes.
- Manage the full sales cycle for mid-tier and emerging partnership opportunities, including pitch creation, proposal writing, and grant submissions showcasing HealthCorps' impact data.
- Collaborate with leadership to secure major transformational sponsorships at various organizational levels.
- Lead brand strategy, setting the tone across all external communication platforms, with oversight of marketing execution on social media, website, newsletters, and press.
- Translate research-validated program impact into clear, compelling narratives and develop partner-facing materials such as decks and reports.
- Represent HealthCorps at conferences, sector meetings, and media engagements.
- Enhance local impact by building advisory committees with civic, education, and philanthropic leaders and partnering with local teams for event planning and partnership cultivation.
- Engage and grow the alumni network as a strategic community connecting them to advisory roles, volunteering, and local partnerships to extend outreach.
- Lead and mentor a division team including Senior Manager of Development, Marketing Manager, part-time Director of Events, and Alumni & Community Manager.
- Act as a player-coach, personally managing a partnership portfolio while guiding team performance toward revenue and relationship targets.
- Set and monitor KPIs for pipeline growth, revenue, and brand performance, providing reports to the CEO and Board to ensure ROI.
- Oversee the division budget and participate in organizational strategic planning as a leadership team member.
Candidate Profile
- Adept relationship builder comfortable closing high-value partnerships and maintaining key accounts.
- Experienced leader able to manage and develop a team while handling an individual portfolio.
- Strong presenter with experience in pitching and securing funding across various audiences including CEOs, boards, and funders.
- Proficient in brand strategy development and marketing oversight, skilled at transforming complex program outcomes into persuasive external messages.
- Excellent written communicator capable of crafting proposals, grant narratives, and impact reports that motivate action.
- Knowledgeable about health systems, corporate social responsibility, education, or youth service sectors; experience with health systems or school districts is a plus.
- Entrepreneurial mindset suited to building new systems in a fast-growing organization.
- Experienced with CRM platforms and data-oriented pipeline and relationship management.
- Passionate about near-peer mentoring, health equity, and youth development.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, public health, communications, marketing, or related disciplines.
- More than seven years of professional experience in business development, strategic partnerships, sales, or revenue leadership.
- Proven experience managing teams and direct reports.
- Successful history of closing and expanding partnerships and managing account portfolios.
- Willingness and ability to travel to HealthCorps hubs, partner sites, and events.
Preferred:
- Experience in healthcare, health systems, corporate social responsibility, or youth-serving organizations in nonprofit or for-profit sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to generate revenue through client, sponsor, or partner relationships; philanthropic fundraising experience is a benefit.
- Experience developing advisory boards, local steering committees, or community engagement frameworks.
- Proven adaptation of commercial business development skills to mission-driven contexts.
- Advanced degrees or specialized training such as a Master’s degree.
Compensation and Benefits
This full-time exempt role includes a comprehensive benefits package tailored to support employee health, financial security, and well-being. Salary varies based on qualifications and location. Candidates residing near or within HealthCorps hubs such as Houston, TX, receive slight preference.
