Job description
Role overview
This position sits with a major international investment bank and blends financial planning, analytics, and business intelligence. The role is focused on turning data into clear commercial insight, improving reporting quality, and helping leaders make better decisions across the organisation.
You will work closely with key stakeholders to build financial models, design dashboards, strengthen reporting processes, and improve the way finance data is handled and used. A major part of the role is also to support scalable data foundations, better governance, and greater automation while contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
The position also involves helping the business expand its analytics capability, including support for AI-related proof-of-concepts and the conversion of promising ideas into practical, long-term solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Work with the Team Lead to create financial models, management dashboards, and analytical insights for business reviews, executive reporting, strategic decisions, and cost-saving efforts.
- Take the lead in supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance management activities.
- Strengthen data architecture, governance, and data quality through integrated solutions, control frameworks, and standardised data management processes.
- Raise reporting standards by building validation checks, reconciliation routines, exception tracking, and clear documentation of data sources and analytical methods.
- Increase efficiency by automating and simplifying month-end reporting, reducing manual work, and improving finance operations.
- Partner with IT to assess, improve, and scale AI proof-of-concepts into durable business tools while supporting broader data and AI capability development.
Required profile
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Statistics, or a closely related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, business intelligence, or analytics, ideally within investment banking or the wider financial services sector.
- Strong hands-on expertise in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial modelling, and management reporting, with the ability to turn complex analysis into practical recommendations.
- Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel and Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, dashboard design, and Power BI Service administration.
- Solid technical knowledge of SQL and either Python or R, plus experience with automation and data preparation platforms such as Power Automate, Alteryx, or similar tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, along with a good understanding of data visualisation, storytelling with data, and emerging AI/ML technologies.
