Role overview
Universal Beauty Products Inc. is hiring a Vice President of Marketing to lead brand expansion, category innovation, and market leadership across the beauty, hair care, and personal care space. This is a senior, hands-on leadership position that combines strategic direction with day-to-day execution, with responsibility for shaping brand strategy, consumer connection, product innovation, and go-to-market performance.
The role works closely with Sales, Research & Development, Operations, and executive leaders to convert consumer insight, market signals, and competitive intelligence into durable growth and stronger market advantage.
Strategic leadership and brand development
- Set the direction for the company’s marketing approach so it supports long-term brand strength and business growth.
- Create and refine positioning strategies that improve market visibility, relevance to shoppers, and differentiation from competitors.
- Strengthen brand communication and storytelling to deepen consumer relationships and build brand equity.
- Spot emerging opportunities, changing consumer needs, and shifts in the category that can guide business decisions.
- Align marketing plans with corporate goals, customer expectations, and evolving buying behavior.
- Support portfolio expansion through strong brand stewardship and category leadership.
Marketing execution and go-to-market
- Direct integrated marketing initiatives across digital, advertising, public relations, trade marketing, website activity, events, sponsorships, and industry trade shows.
- Build annual brand plans with measurable goals, budgets, performance markers, and growth targets.
- Work with Sales to design account-specific marketing programs that help distribution, retail performance, and revenue growth.
- Lead product launches and commercialization efforts to support successful market entry and adoption.
- Present brand plans, launch strategies, and marketing initiatives to internal teams and important customer accounts.
- Track marketing performance using data and analytics, then use findings to improve results and return on investment.
Team leadership and organization building
- Lead, coach, and motivate a high-performing marketing team with a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, accountability, and outcomes.
- Strengthen the team by supporting talent development, succession planning, and leadership growth.
- Encourage creativity, ongoing improvement, and strong cross-functional teamwork.
- Set clear objectives, performance standards, and accountability across the marketing function.
- Mentor emerging leaders within the department and the wider organization.
Product innovation and portfolio management
- Promote consumer-led innovation by using market research, consumer insights, and industry trends to uncover growth opportunities.
- Partner with Research & Development on innovation, formulations, packaging enhancements, and new product pipelines.
- Provide marketing input throughout the product development process, from concept stage through commercialization.
- Assess category results, competitor activity, and market movement to guide portfolio strategy and innovation priorities.
- Recommend ways to expand, refine, or rationalize the portfolio to improve growth and profitability.
Financial and business performance
- Prepare and control marketing budgets so resources are used efficiently and business goals are met.
- Monitor KPIs, market share, profitability, and revenue growth to measure overall business performance.
- Invest in marketing activities that improve ROI while also strengthening long-term brand value.
- Contribute to annual planning, forecasting, and strategic growth programs.
Industry representation and partnerships
- Represent the brand and the company at trade shows, industry events, customer meetings, and professional associations.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with key customers, agencies, vendors, and strategic partners.
- Stay current on industry changes, competitor activity, regulations, and consumer trends affecting the beauty and personal care market.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a closely related field is required; an MBA is preferred.
- At least 10 years of progressive marketing leadership experience, with a strong record of growing brands, supporting innovation, and improving revenue performance.
- Background in beauty, hair care, cosmetics, personal care, consumer packaged goods, or a similar manufacturing environment is required.
- Strong command of brand management, product marketing, innovation, consumer insight, and go-to-market planning.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with Sales, Research & Development, Operations, and executive leadership.
- Solid analytical ability, strategic judgment, and business planning skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership capabilities.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver in a fast-moving, changing environment.
- Deep understanding of consumer behavior, category trends, and competitive dynamics in beauty and personal care.
- A resilient, adaptable, results-driven leader with a practical, hands-on management style.
