Role Overview
The Vice President of Global Strategic Planning is a key senior executive responsible for directing the organization's global strategic planning efforts, corporate planning frameworks, enterprise performance measurement, and initiatives aimed at long-term growth. This position involves formulating worldwide business strategies, assessing market opportunities, harmonizing cross-departmental priorities, and optimizing the use of corporate resources to achieve sustained competitive advantage and increase shareholder value.
This executive works closely with the CEO, CSO, CFO, COO, CCO, CGO, and other members of the executive leadership team to develop enterprise-level strategies and ensure successful deployment across international markets.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive strategic planning processes aligned with the company’s vision and objectives on a global scale.
- Lead both annual and long-term strategic planning cycles involving international business units.
- Translate overarching corporate strategy into actionable initiatives, clear priorities, and execution roadmaps.
- Ensure alignment of strategies across different regions, business functions, and operational divisions.
- Analyze macroeconomic trends, competitive landscapes, industry shifts, and emerging technologies to discover strategic opportunities.
- Formulate long-term growth plans, market penetration strategies, and competitive positioning tactics.
- Support senior leadership in setting enterprise priorities and capital investment planning.
- Recommend initiatives that enhance long-term organizational performance.
- Create and manage enterprise performance measurement frameworks and strategic KPIs.
- Monitor progress relative to strategic goals and advise on necessary adjustments.
- Develop executive dashboards, scorecards, and business reports to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Drive global market research, competitive intelligence gathering, customer insight analysis, and strategic forecasting.
- Assess opportunities for mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and other investments.
- Conduct scenario-based planning, risk evaluation, and long-term business modeling.
- Work with Finance to prioritize investment opportunities and allocate resources efficiently.
- Evaluate new business ventures and innovation prospects to optimize the corporate portfolio and drive value creation.
- Coordinate across departments such as Operations, Marketing, Sales, Product Management, Technology, HR, and Regional Leadership to ensure cohesive strategic implementation.
- Lead and develop high-performing strategy teams including Directors of Strategic Planning, Market Intelligence, and Performance Management.
- Manage budgets, external consulting relationships, research investments, and planning resources.
- Present comprehensive strategic plans, performance analyses, and growth recommendations to executives and board members.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, International Business, Strategy, or related disciplines.
- MBA or master’s degree is preferred.
- 15 to 20+ years of progressive leadership experience in fields such as corporate strategy, strategic planning, management consulting, finance, operations, or corporate development.
- Proven track record in leading enterprise-wide strategic planning within multinational environments.
- Expertise in strategic analysis, financial modeling, business planning, market intelligence, portfolio management, and executive leadership.
- Outstanding analytical abilities combined with excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
