Role Overview
The Area Vice President of Operations plays a pivotal role on the leadership team, overseeing strategic and operational aspects across multiple hospice agencies in the regions of Dallas-Fort Worth and Kansas City, Missouri. Reporting to the SVP and General Manager of Business Operations, this position ensures that agency performance, clinical quality, and patient services are aligned with Luminary's mission and standards. It also involves partnering on growth initiatives, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate in shaping and executing operational strategies aligned with enterprise goals.
- Advise senior leadership on workforce trends, field operations, and market conditions.
- Maintain a patient-centered approach in all decision-making processes.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Executive Directors and agency management across several markets.
- Develop and implement standardized processes for consistent care and employee experience.
- Drive agency performance in clinical quality, patient satisfaction, compliance, census growth, and financial objectives.
- Ensure appropriate staffing and resources for timely, high-quality care delivery.
- Establish and maintain KPI monitoring frameworks, leading corrective actions as necessary.
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements while maintaining care standards.
- Promote a culture of accountability and continuous development.
- Partner with clinical teams on quality improvement efforts.
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update policies accordingly.
- Collaborate with compliance teams on audits and risk reduction plans.
- Coach agency leaders and support their development.
- Work alongside HR and Talent Acquisition to enhance recruitment, retention, and workforce planning.
- Champion organizational culture fostering engagement and alignment with mission.
- Lead via influence to build trust throughout all organizational levels.
- Support business development to explore new markets, start-ups, and expansion of census.
- Participate in operational due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions.
- Analyze competitive market dynamics to position Luminary as the provider of choice.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, finance, and IT teams to support field operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, preferably hospice or post-acute care.
- Demonstrated success managing multi-site operations and implementing performance enhancements.
- In-depth knowledge of hospice and home health regulatory environments.
- Strong financial management and operational skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and change management capabilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to various Luminary Hospice agencies.
