About the Role
We are collaborating with a prestigious institutional investor to recruit a Vice President for their Australia and New Zealand Real Assets division. This portfolio includes direct investments across various sectors and cities, covering traditional asset types such as office, retail, and industrial, along with expanding allocations in alternatives like student accommodation, healthcare, and multi-family housing.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee assets and portfolios in diverse real asset sectors, encompassing both conventional and alternative categories, with emphasis on managing operating businesses and achieving value realization.
- Serve as the principal liaison between the investor and operating entity management, establishing strong governance frameworks and influencing decisions at the board level.
- Create and evaluate business plans collaboratively with partners and managers that address revenue, expenses, leasing activities, development, capital expenditures, ESG factors, and financing; ensure management adheres to set targets.
- Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing portfolio value, including optimizing pricing, expanding ancillary income streams, improving operational efficiency, and exploring portfolio consolidation opportunities.
- Direct divestment activities through organized capital recycling strategies.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet reporting obligations related to valuations, budgets, and strategic business plans.
- Oversee compliance and governance protocols within portfolio companies, supporting corporate actions.
- Analyze industry trends to propose asset management strategies to partners and external managers.
- Establish and nurture robust relationships within the investment community.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10 to 15+ years of pertinent asset management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the Australian real assets marketplace; experience in the self-storage sector is advantageous.
- Background in private equity with practical involvement in collaborating with management teams to realize and maximize asset value.
- Strong operational and commercial insight capable of translating strategic investment concepts into clear operational key performance indicators and effective business plan implementation.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships both inside and outside the organization.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with advanced financial and analytical proficiency.
- A bachelor's degree with honours from a reputable university.
- Self-motivated and excellent team collaborator.
