Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is for an Investment Research Associate focused on sustainability within a global investment management setting in New York. The role is centered on deep fundamental research and data analysis, rather than corporate sustainability work, ESG reporting, or sustainability consulting.

The ideal candidate will bring strong research training, advanced Excel capability, and a sharp eye for detail. The work will involve producing accurate, high-quality outputs on demanding deadlines.

What you will do

  • Carry out in-depth research on companies, industries, and sectors.
  • Review financial statements, corporate disclosures, and large datasets covering financial and sustainability information.
  • Develop, update, and maintain analytical models, datasets, and tools.
  • Prepare concise written research and company analysis for senior investment professionals.
  • Evaluate sustainability-related issues through the lens of fundamental investing and financial materiality.
  • Perform comparison work at both company and portfolio level across sectors.
  • Assist with company engagement, stewardship, and related investment research assignments.
  • Collaborate with teammates across investment, research, and adjacent functions.

Candidate profile

We are looking for someone with roughly 2 to 5 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, asset management, or another highly analytical financial services role. The background should reflect strong company and sector research skills, comfort working with financial statements, and a solid understanding of capital markets.

Success in the role also depends on advanced Excel and data analysis skills, ideally supported by financial modeling experience. The person should be able to work quickly without sacrificing precision, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, accept feedback well, and thrive in a lean team environment. A hands-on, accountable, low-ego approach is important, along with genuine interest in sustainable investing and how sustainability factors influence investment analysis.

Important note

Because this position may attract a high volume of interest, individual replies may not be possible for every applicant. Candidates whose experience aligns most closely with the role will be contacted.
