Job description
About the team
The Local Services group is focused on becoming the most trusted platform for local services by connecting users and partners through POI, video, LIVE, search, and related experiences. The team aims to make everyday life more useful, distinctive, and innovative while supporting merchants, service providers, creators, and other partners in building revenue and operating more efficiently.
Within this group, the Governance and Experience team works to protect trust and improve user experience by creating and rolling out end-to-end programmes that support a safe, reliable, and healthy international marketplace.
Role overview
This position is centered on shaping policy, governance, and risk controls for merchant and listing activities within TikTok Local Services. The role requires close collaboration across business, product, and model teams to strengthen onboarding, review, and monitoring systems, while improving operational efficiency and reducing risk.
Key responsibilities
- Create and refine category-specific standards for merchant and product onboarding and posting, including review criteria, governance policies, KYB solutions, POI handling, and review management processes.
- Identify baseline and ecosystem risks, lower negative feedback, and help improve the overall experience for users and partners.
- Partner with business teams to assess risk for new initiatives and translate those assessments into stronger governance frameworks and practical solutions.
- Use data-led methods to improve risk understanding and to define and track governance metrics.
- Strengthen governance logic through ongoing monitoring and insights so that risk indicators continue to decrease.
- Work with product and machine learning teams to improve governance tooling and model accuracy, boosting efficiency and lowering operating costs.
Qualifications
The role calls for at least 3 years of experience in platform governance, risk governance, merchant or product governance, or content ecosystem governance. A bachelor’s degree or above is required, and studies in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Analysis, or a related area are preferred.
Strong strategic judgment, project coordination ability, and cross-functional communication skills are important, along with the ability to manage complex workstreams and priorities in a fast-moving environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, self-driven, and comfortable balancing multiple tasks.
Preferred experience
Experience in local services or e-commerce is an advantage. Candidates with strong skills in SQL, Python, or Excel-based analysis are preferred, as are those who can communicate clearly in both spoken and written form and explain complex strategies effectively in writing.
