Role Overview

The Thought Leader Liaison is a senior, field-based role within Karyopharm’s U.S. Commercial team, focusing on building and enhancing strategic relationships with national, regional, and emerging thought leaders throughout the Eastern U.S. This position plays a pivotal role in advancing Karyopharm’s external engagement strategies, supporting peer-to-peer educational initiatives, guiding brand and portfolio development, and generating valuable market insights mainly in multiple myeloma, hematology, and oncology domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, oversee, and execute engagement strategies targeting thought leaders in the Eastern U.S., initially emphasizing relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma with plans to expand into other hematology and oncology areas.
  • Establish and nurture robust relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, community oncology providers, and strategic accounts to advance brand goals and educational efforts.
  • Collaborate across functions including Marketing, Sales, Market Access, Commercial Analytics, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance to shape strategic messaging and execute field initiatives.
  • Support compliant disease-state education related to pipeline products, new indications, and launch preparation aligned with approved business and regulatory standards.
  • Implement a structured region-specific insight-gathering process to analyze treatment trends, competitive landscape, unmet educational needs, patient pathways, and stakeholder priorities, converting insights into actionable recommendations for commercial and medical teams.
  • Work alongside regional sales leadership and field teams to identify educational gaps, optimize healthcare professional engagement, and facilitate high-impact peer-to-peer programs and speaker events.
  • Represent the company at national and regional medical congresses, advisory boards, speaker engagements, and other external forums to strengthen thought leader relationships and gather market intelligence.
  • Contribute to the creation and rollout of account-based promotional tactics, disease education programs, and marketing campaigns that raise awareness and support appropriate use of Karyopharm's oncology portfolio.
  • Offer strategic insights from the field regarding treatment patterns, competition, patient care pathways, and educational needs across multiple myeloma, myelofibrosis, endometrial cancer, and related oncology areas.
  • Support speaker bureau activities by identifying and developing speakers, collecting feedback on event effectiveness, and optimizing education collaboration with Sales and Marketing in a compliant manner.
  • Demonstrate business ownership, strategic thinking, and executive presence while thriving in a dynamic, fast-evolving commercial environment.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of seven years of experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, or oncology healthcare industries.
  • Background in oncology sales, field leadership, clinical practice, nurse practitioner roles, thought leader engagement, speaker bureau management, or peer education.
  • A proven track record managing KOL relationships and delivering strategic engagement plans in customer-facing capacities.
  • Competence in collecting, synthesizing, and presenting market insights to influence commercial strategies and leadership decisions.
  • Strong capability for cross-functional collaboration involving Marketing, Sales, Market Access, Medical, Analytics, and Compliance teams.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, planning, and multitasking skills covering a broad geographic territory.
  • Willingness to travel about 50%, including attendance at congresses, customer and internal meetings, and regional engagements.

Preferred Credentials

  • Experience in and connections within hematology/oncology preferred.
  • Knowledge of multiple myeloma, myelofibrosis, endometrial cancer, or wider solid tumor oncology highly regarded.
  • Experience in thought leader engagement, peer-to-peer marketing, speaker bureaus, advisory boards, launch readiness, or disease education initiatives.
  • Background supporting pipeline development, pre-launch activities, market expansion, or future-indication planning through compliant education and insights.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership and provide strategic recommendations without direct authority.
  • Strong executive presence to engage with external experts and internal stakeholders effectively.
  • Residence in the Eastern U.S. / East Coast region is required.
