Position Overview

The role of Director, Marketing is a senior leadership position tasked with driving the marketing function aligned with the organisation's goals. This leader crafts and executes marketing strategies to enhance brand positioning, target markets, customer engagement, and reputation management, thereby increasing awareness and adoption of Export Finance Australia's offerings. The role is responsible for overseeing integrated campaigns informed by insights, managing digital platforms, marketing automation, and improving customer experiences. Leadership duties include managing a marketing team, budgets, and ensuring compliance with government governance, risk, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the marketing plan, translating business objectives and market insights into clear strategies and measurable growth goals.
  • Offer strategic counsel to the General Manager, Brand, Media and Communications on brand, reputation, customer interaction, market opportunities, and emerging risks.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align marketing with business development and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with communications to deliver compelling and accessible narratives showcasing the organisation’s impact and value.
  • Enhance the organisation’s reputation as a dependable government financier supporting exporters and infrastructure.
  • Lead data-driven, integrated engagement campaigns to build awareness and demand among customers, intermediaries, and government entities.
  • Manage brand and reputational risks proactively.
  • Direct the Net Promoter Score (NPS) program including governance, data collection, and insight application to enhance customer experiences and impact measures.
  • Oversee marketing platforms such as website, customer helpline, CRM, automation, and digital analytics to support decision-making and continual optimization.
  • Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks that measure marketing’s contribution to engagement, brand strength, and organizational priorities.
  • Ensure marketing plans comply with governmental policies, legislation, regulatory standards, and whole-of-government initiatives.
  • Support ministerial and parliamentary communications with aligned marketing messaging and materials.
  • Maintain robust governance, risk management, budget control, and vendor management within marketing operations.
  • Lead and foster a skilled and high-performing marketing team capable of delivering strategic and digital marketing initiatives.
  • Develop operational frameworks and partnerships to sustain a contemporary, insights-driven marketing function.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary degree in marketing, business, or related fields, with preference for a Master’s qualification.
  • More than 10 years of marketing and customer experience leadership within complex organisations.
  • Proven expertise in managing extensive multi-channel campaigns and customer experience initiatives.
  • Experience overseeing budgets, agencies, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong skills in applying analytics and data to optimize marketing and customer outcomes.
  • Proficiency with marketing and communication technologies such as CRM software, social media tools, CMS, and analytics platforms.
  • Industry knowledge relevant to finance, export credit, or international trade to align messaging with sector trends and regulations.
  • Commercial acumen to tie marketing activities to overall business goals.
  • Expertise in customer journey mapping and experience design to enhance engagement.
