Role Overview
UPMC Aut Even Hospital is seeking a dedicated Theatre Housekeeping Operative to provide exceptional cleaning services within the Theatre department, including thorough sanitation of the operating theatre itself. This is a permanent full-time position based at Kilkenny.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean theatre equipment and adjacent work areas following established schedules and using appropriate detergents.
- Strictly follow the colour-coded cleaning cloth system to maintain hygiene protocols.
- Ensure proper segregation of mop heads and cleaning cloths to avoid cross-contamination.
- Conduct cleaning in isolation rooms during use and after patient discharge.
- Manage blood or bodily fluid spillages safely by liaising with nursing staff and adhering to infection control policies.
- Display warning signs during cleaning operations and wear necessary personal protective equipment at all times.
- Follow directives from the Housekeeping Supervisor and accept additional tasks as assigned.
- Maintain awareness of personal and workplace safety, reporting any hazards or incidents promptly.
- Attend mandatory annual training on Fire, Health & Safety.
- Flexible to work in different hospital areas as required throughout the work schedule.
- Provide valid documentation to verify all claimed training and experience if requested.

Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in theatre or sterile environments is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of current infection control procedures is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, physically demanding work setting.
- Flexibility and strong organizational skills are essential.
Compensation and Contract
The position offers an annual salary ranging from €30,805 to €39,183.96 based on a full-time 39-hour workweek under a permanent contract.
