Role overview
Goltens Worldwide is hiring a Diesel Technician in Singapore for its Diesel Department. This position reports to the Technical Manager – Diesel and focuses on hands-on repair, overhauling, inspection support, and workshop coordination for marine mechanical equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out dismantling, refurbishment, overhaul, and repair work on 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine components received in the workshop.
- Spot worn or damaged parts, arrange replacements, and raise part orders or service requests when needed for the technician team.
- Help maintain delivery deadlines while balancing quality expectations and cost awareness.
- Support the preparation of inspection and calibration documentation, spare-parts requisitions, and completed-work reports.
- Plan tasks effectively and manage time schedules in a structured way.
- Work alongside the Department Manager and Service Engineers to meet mechanical repair needs and to organize troubleshooting and equipment repair work.
- Ensure timesheets are completed accurately and submitted to the department manager within the required timeline.
- Raise work-related concerns, including disagreements and performance issues, through regular discussions aimed at finding practical solutions.
- Follow the company’s bell-to-bell working-hour policy, remain punctual, and comply with company rules at all times.
- Use all required safety equipment and follow applicable OSHA rules while working on your own tasks and supporting mechanical technicians.
- Put safety first for yourself and your colleagues, and strictly observe the company’s environment, health, and safety policy.
- Handle other duties assigned by management from time to time.
Requirements
- Vocational certificate or equivalent technical qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical repair work.
- Sailing experience is preferred, along with a valid Seaman book.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and repair processes.
- Ability to perform well under pressure.
- Capable of working independently, professionally, and efficiently.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge of the marine industry.
