Role overview
Goltens Worldwide is hiring a Foreman for the Internal Support Department (Diesel) in Singapore. The position reports to the Service Engineer for ISD and focuses on supervising and carrying out workshop-based repair and reconditioning work on engine components, with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and timely delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical overhauls, refurbishment work, and repairs on 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine parts received in the workshop.
- Assess components to decide what must be replaced and arrange parts orders or repair support when needed.
- Compile inspection documentation in line with ISO work instructions, risk assessments, and checklists for all assigned tasks.
- Support the preparation of inspection and calibration reports, along with spare-part requests, for the immediate supervisor.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and related documents to select the right repair methods and parts, while keeping delivery timelines, quality standards, and costs in mind.
- Ensure timesheets for the team are accurate and submitted to the superior within the required deadlines.
- Coordinate regularly with the superior and other departments to resolve service-related issues and improve work performance.
- Maintain strong personal discipline, punctuality, and adherence to company working-hour rules and policies.
- Follow all company safety, environmental, and health requirements and set a positive example for subordinates.
- Promote tidiness in the workplace and help keep the workshop, tools, and plant equipment in good working condition.
- Estimate labour, materials, and other job requirements, and provide written estimates when requested.
- Make sure testing and monitoring instruments are properly identified and kept in good order.
- For fuel system components, work with Goltens vendors and customers on reports and site inspections so the repaired/reconditioned items match purchase-order specifications from enquiry/sales stage through project completion.
- Take on any additional duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- ITE certificate or O Level qualification, at minimum.
- At least 5 years of experience in reconditioning and overhauling 4-stroke engine components, including fuel systems.
- Working knowledge of high-speed engines.
- Sailing experience is preferred.
- Practical trade knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Capable of working professionally, independently, and efficiently.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong supervisory ability.
- Background or working knowledge in the marine industry.
