Role overview
Goltens Worldwide is hiring an In-situ Machinist for its Singapore location within the In-situ Department. The position reports to the Assistant Manager – In-situ and involves field-based machining and related repair work, mainly in marine and offshore environments.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out on-site machining tasks such as flange facing, X-Y milling, boring, and drilling.
- Lead the team when required and perform in-situ grinding on crankshaft crankpins, fillet re-grinding, main journal work, and annealing of crankpins.
- Use single-point cutting slide methods for in-situ machining on crankpins and shafts.
- Handle line boring of engine main bearing pockets, including laser alignment and flatness verification.
- Read and work from customer drawings, measurements, tolerances, and job requirements.
- Pack and prepare tools for each assignment and coordinate transport arrangements through the SCM department.
- After inspection, document measurements and findings in both hard and soft copy using the company’s templates, and include repair recommendations.
- Escalate any detected dimensional or visual defects to the supervisor for a decision.
- Join VSCC meetings at yards and organize yard entry arrangements whenever needed.
- Prepare daily site reports with photographs and email them to the office by the end of each day.
- Track and renew permits, gate passes, and safety inductions before they expire.
- Respond promptly and professionally to service calls and issues raised during field visits.
- Complete and submit all required job paperwork on time.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Keep the work area clean and support quality management system standards.
- Work with all required safety gear in place and follow OSHA rules.
- Place safety first for yourself and colleagues and comply with the company’s environment, health, and safety policy.
- Take on additional duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- ITE certificate or O Level qualification is required.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong technical understanding of machining work.
- Ability to analyse machining variations at a basic level.
- Comfortable working under pressure.
- Able to work independently, professionally, and efficiently.
- Quality-focused with the ability to meet productivity targets.
- Willingness to travel overseas.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience or familiarity with the marine and offshore industry.
