Director of Operations

About the Role

EDP is expanding across Connecticut and requires experienced operational leaders who excel at developing teams, driving results, and delivering exceptional customer experiences across multiple sites. As the Director of Operations, you will oversee all CT locations, collaborate closely with local leadership, and ensure safe operations, financial success, and consistent service quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead operational performance by enhancing efficiency and monitoring key financial and operational metrics, implementing improvements as needed.
• Collaborate with site managers to boost productivity, service excellence, and profitability.
• Mentor and support local managers and supervisors regarding talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and ongoing enhancement.
• Guarantee safe, dependable, and top-quality service for customers while proactively identifying and resolving service issues.
• Promote operational practices aimed at improving customer retention and satisfaction.
• Champion a safety-first environment ensuring compliance with corporate policies, regulations, and industry standards through regular facility visits and audits.
• Manage assets including fleet, facilities, equipment, and workforce planning to align resources with business demands.
• Support growth via partnerships with sales and development teams, onboarding new locations, process improvements, and operational integration.
• Provide insights and ideas to strengthen EDP's market presence across Connecticut.

Success Metrics in the First 90 Days

• Established strong collaboration with location leaders and implemented regular operating routines.
• Clear communication and tracking of key performance indicators, safety metrics, and service standards.
• Initiated improvement plans at sites with performance gaps.
• Team members clearly understand goals, expectations, and success measurement criteria.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of leadership experience within operations, logistics, field services, distribution, energy, transportation, or related sectors.
• Proven record managing multiple teams, departments, or locations.
• Robust financial and operational expertise, including budget and metric management.
• Strong leadership skills to coach, develop, and hold teams accountable.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly among Connecticut sites.

Preferred Experience

• Background in propane, energy, utilities, distribution, transportation, or industrial services.
• Experience managing multiple branches or field sites.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, or an equivalent field or experience.
• Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance programs.
• Expertise in continuous improvement or process optimization.

Additional Information

This position requires frequent travel across Connecticut facilities; candidates should reside in or near Connecticut.

Compensation and Benefits
