Assistant/ Vice President, Investment Performance & Management

About the Role

The Investment Performance and Management (IPM) team at Temasek is dedicated to fostering alignment across the organization to support Temasek's strategic investment objectives and to boost overall investment performance. This position offers a rare chance to gain a strategic vantage point on Temasek’s portfolio and investment activities, while actively contributing to organizational development initiatives that enhance investment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior leadership in shaping and conveying principal investment strategies and directives, driving analytical initiatives to evaluate investment performance and refine strategies across investing teams and the broader portfolio.
• Lead portfolio management functions including spearheading Portfolio Action Plans and advancing value creation efforts within select portfolio companies.
• Extract and analyze investment and portfolio data to inform and improve decision-making processes.
• Collaborate with investment and functional teams to contribute inputs shaping overall investment strategies such as focus areas, portfolio construction, and allocation.
• Work closely with teams in both public and private markets to establish and propagate best practices and learning programs.
• Develop strategic principles and initiatives aimed at augmenting franchise value, including organizing annual portfolio events.
• Critically review and elevate current investment methodologies to enhance overall performance and operational activities.
• Ensure effective knowledge capture and sharing across sector and market teams to instill consistent best practices.
• Partner with the Investment Committee to promote robust decision-making standards and lead initiatives to bolster investment professionals' effectiveness through process improvement and tailored training programs.
• Champion the adoption and scaling of AI technologies by working with functional teams to design and implement impactful AI projects.
• Act as a strategic collaborator for various internal investment management platforms by evaluating business workflows and delivering end-user training as needed.
• Continuously review and upgrade governance frameworks to uphold optimal practices.

Professional Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 to 8 years of professional experience in investment management, ideally encompassing private equity direct investing, portfolio management, value creation, strategy, or consulting roles.
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to grasp broad strategic concepts while managing detailed execution and multiple priorities autonomously.
• Proficient in devising structured analyses and developing clarity from ambiguous or complex ideas.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills capable of influencing and articulating key points persuasively.
• Solid understanding of the investment business and comprehensive investment processes, including experience across deal sourcing, origination, diligence, execution, and post-investment management.
