About the Role
The Strategic Initiatives team invests significant capital into emerging markets, new business models, and long-term thematic opportunities before they become widely recognized investment categories. The focus is on opportunistic and thematic investments across frontier themes and asset classes that may sit outside Temasek’s conventional sector coverage.
Recent areas of interest have included AI infrastructure, such as AIP and Aligned Data Centers, as well as sports-related opportunities, including American college football. The team evaluates, structures, and executes differentiated transactions that create meaningful impact across formats such as direct and co-investments, fund investments, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and collaborations.
Through these investments, the team aims to deliver long-term compounded returns while broadening Temasek’s reach, influence, and franchise value. The group works closely with Temasek Global Investments, Temasek Singapore, and Temasek Partnership Solutions to deploy catalytic capital into opportunities that strengthen market positioning and strategic relevance over the long term.
What You Will Do
- Assist with deal assessment activities, including due diligence, sector and company analysis, and review of legal documents, while taking ownership of financial modelling and related analytical work.
- Build investment decks, recommendation papers, and supporting analysis for senior leadership and investment committee reviews.
- Contribute to post-investment portfolio oversight for Strategic Initiatives investments and assets, including monitoring performance and supporting value creation efforts at the project level.
- Provide support on additional Strategic Initiatives workstreams, such as new strategy development, growth themes, and cross-firm value creation projects.
- Help coordinate work across deal teams made up of colleagues from different functional groups and stakeholder communities.
What We’re Looking For
- 1 to 3 years of experience in Investment Banking or Private Equity.
- Strong ability to manage transactions and think critically about complex opportunities.
- Solid technical capability, including financial modelling and creating presentation materials.
- A proactive, self-driven approach along with strong interpersonal effectiveness.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
