Role Overview

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for carrying out repairs, decorating, and routine preventative maintenance to ensure the seamless operation of the facility's plant machinery and infrastructure including gas, electrical, oil, and water systems. This full-time position involves 35 working hours per week at an hourly rate of 3.77.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform decorating and redecorating tasks as instructed.
  • Participate in emergency fire drills and evacuation procedures; conduct weekly fire safety checks.
  • Carry out PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) on electrical equipment.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for maintenance and repairs.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks per the facility's maintenance manual and make sure all health and safety regulations are upheld.
  • Safely handle equipment and chemicals relevant to maintenance.
  • Electrical, plumbing, and joinery tasks to maintain the building and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance call-outs when needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities alongside effective communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid UK driving licence, as driving is necessary in this role.
  • A 17th Edition Electrical certificate is preferred but candidates willing to work towards obtaining it will be considered.
