Job description
Role overview
Emirates Group IT is looking for a Technical Product Owner to support the dnata portfolio from Dubai. This role sits within the Technical Product Management function and focuses on building digital products and services that create value for both business and customer users. The position is centred on resource management, including planning, rostering, and scheduling, while helping guide product development from early ideas through to live operation.
The role acts as a key bridge between product engineering teams and business stakeholders. You will own and shape team backlogs covering features, functional work, non-functional requirements, business-as-usual items, technical debt, spikes, and ceremonies, while helping teams stay aligned, prioritised, and delivery-focused. Emirates is seeking an experienced IT professional who can contribute to innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.
What you will do
- Own the story details, acceptance criteria, and final sign-off for team backlogs, ensuring items are prepared early for future program increments, refined regularly with the team, and ordered according to broader priorities.
- Make sure technical debt and non-functional needs are identified, refined, and prioritised across sprints.
- Support resource management for the dnata portfolio, including planning, rostering, scheduling, and related activities.
- Bring in business-as-usual work, ceremony activities, and spike work into the backlog, within the limits of available capacity.
- Help prepare input for PI demos together with other relevant product owners.
- Protect the quality and consistency of features within your product and team scope, while surfacing risks and dependencies to the wider product portfolio backlog.
- Attend and contribute to important product management forums, especially PI Planning.
- Define measures that show whether prioritised work is performing well, and use those results to shape future BAU iterations where capacity allows.
- Support the growth of a strong product owner community by encouraging collaboration, shared identity, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to wider product management communities and help improve ways of working across teams.
- Work with your team to identify innovation ideas and share consolidated recommendations with the Technical Product Manager community.
Requirements
- A degree or honours qualification, or an equivalent 12+3 education level.
- At least 5 years of experience in information technology, preferably in areas such as operations research, marketing science, information systems, e-commerce, or through an equivalent mix of industry certification and relevant experience.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, or in an operational resource management environment in a team-facing role, with evidence of driving change and delivering quickly.
- Experience working with technology vendors is preferred.
- Exposure to scaled agile delivery across multiple initiatives and around 50 or more teams is an advantage, though not mandatory.
- Strong domain or technical expertise, with the ability to keep up with regulatory and other changes and apply them in the Emirates Group context.
- Clear, concise communication skills across peer, management, and stakeholder levels.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with peers and team members.
- Customer-focused mindset with a strong interest in creating value.
- Experience in rostering, scheduling, or allocation, especially in aviation or logistics, is highly desirable.
- Global product certification or training such as CSPO, SAFe, or PSPO is a plus.
- Comfort using product management tools for software delivery is beneficial.
