Job description
About the Role
We are seeking passionate and highly motivated staff nurses to join our team on the private patients ward at Royal Brompton Hospital, specifically within the Sir Reginald Wilson ward—a specialist cardiothoracic and cardiology unit. This ward cares for a wide range of patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions, including congenital heart diseases, heart failure, inherited cardiovascular disorders, and infective endocarditis.
The role involves caring for patients after complex cardiac and lung surgeries as well as post-structural interventions such as TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) and TEER (Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair). The ward is recognized nationally and internationally as a leading and innovative centre for nursing and allied health professional care, providing exceptional patient experiences.
Responsibilities
As a staff nurse, you will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver individualized and comprehensive care to specialist cardiothoracic and cardiology patients. Your duties will include providing holistic nursing care, supervising and educating junior staff, and actively engaging in your professional development with the support of senior nursing colleagues.
About the Organisation
Since its integration with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in 2021, Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals represent the largest specialist heart and lung centre in the UK and among the largest in Europe. The hospital offers treatments for complex heart and lung diseases, including rare conditions, employing some of the most advanced therapies worldwide. The hospital’s patient care model spans from prenatal through old age and is internationally recognized for excellence in diagnosis, treatment, and research.
