Job description
About the Role
This position is for a Staff Nurse on a specialized 18-bed oncology ward (A25) dedicated to caring for patients undergoing chemotherapy and managing side effects from radiotherapy. The role involves delivering compassionate, patient-focused nursing services to individuals with cancer. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, the nurse will manage patient treatment, monitor symptoms, and provide supportive care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-standard nursing care tailored to oncology patients.
- Assess patient conditions, plan care, and evaluate outcomes regularly.
- Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments.
- Continuously monitor patient health status and escalate issues as needed.
- Manage symptoms and offer emotional support to patients and their families.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient documentation.
- Work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Contribute to discharge planning and educate patients about their care.
- Uphold infection control measures and comply with safety and professional nursing standards.
Additional Information
The Trust is actively enhancing and realigning services as part of the New Hospital Programme. Some roles may involve relocation either temporarily or permanently; recruiting managers will address any related queries during interviews. Note that excess mileage will not be reimbursed if a role moves location—travel from home to the new base counts as regular commuting. Changes will adhere to Trust and national T&Cs.
