Job description
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Band 5 staff nurse for Ellis Ward, a 14-bed adult female surgical unit that primarily treats patients with breast and gynecological cancers, as well as other specialties such as colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, and urology. The ward also cares for patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and symptom management. This role requires excellent clinical and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Key duties include planning, documenting, delivering, and evaluating nursing care based on evidence and in coordination with shift coordinators. Nurses will develop a deeper understanding of cancer patient needs and diverse treatment modalities within the ward and support shift management responsibilities under guidance from senior nursing staff.
Training and Development
The position includes a supernumerary orientation period tailored for familiarization with ward operations, mentor support, and introductions to multidisciplinary teams. While oncology experience is preferred, comprehensive training will be provided to enhance oncology nursing expertise and leadership skills. Opportunities for further education, including chemotherapy administration, are offered through the Royal Marsden School.
