About the Role
The Trade and International Economics Division (TIER) is responsible for shaping Singapore's foreign economic policy and protecting its economic interests globally. The South Asia, Middle East and Africa Division (SAMEA) within TIER focuses on enhancing economic ties with more than 70 countries across these regions. This role involves promoting bilateral platforms, negotiating economic agreements, and coordinating Ministerial engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design policies to expand two-way trade, investments, and people exchanges with India.
- Lead negotiations and oversee implementation of trade agreements and memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with India, including the India-Singapore Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement and MOUs in the Semiconductor and Science & Technology sectors.
- Create and execute strategies to foster cooperation with India in emerging sectors, generating new opportunities for Singapore companies downstream.
- Facilitate Singapore's economic interaction with India by organizing and supporting official visits, meetings, and collaborative efforts.
Candidate Profile
- Academic background in fields such as Economics, Political Science, International Relations, or related disciplines.
- Strong interest in economic development, international affairs, and emerging market dynamics specifically in South Asia and/or the Middle East.
- Capable of thriving in a dynamic and demanding work environment.
- Excellent writing, analytical, and communication abilities.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful individual who can work independently.
