About the Role
KLR Executive Search is collaborating with an expanding biotechnology firm located in the Greater Boston area to find a Senior Vice President for Information Technology. The role involves overseeing all technological aspects within a fast-growing clinical-stage biotechnology setting transitioning to a new headquarters. The goal is to ensure the IT infrastructure is secure, scalable, compliant, and efficient while facilitating business activities linked to clinical development, regulatory compliance, operations, quality assurance, and commercial launches.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy and roadmap aligned with regulatory compliance, operations, and commercial objectives.
- Collaborate with executive and departmental leaders to prioritize IT initiatives consistent with scientific, clinical, operational, financial, and commercial goals.
- Evaluate current IT infrastructure and lead the development of scalable systems, infrastructure, and support processes suitable for a growing biotech enterprise.
- Oversee selection, integration, and enhancement of enterprise applications related to R&D, clinical trials, quality control, regulatory affairs, finance, HR, legal, and commercial areas.
- Advance IT governance frameworks including cybersecurity, data privacy, data security, access controls, vendor oversight, and risk management in line with SOX, GDPR, and U.S. regulatory standards.
- Enhance data management and analytical capabilities to boost visibility and support cross-functional collaboration and decision-making.
- Promote and guide the responsible adoption of AI technologies, including governance, risk management, and operational integration.
- Manage technology budgets, contracts, vendor relations, and investments focusing on scalability, compliance, and cost management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive senior IT leadership experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or regulated industries.
- Proven background supporting clinical-stage or late-stage development entities, with preparation experience for product commercialization.
- Experience leading IT during biotech/pharmaceutical product launches, understanding system and compliance needs across business functions.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise apps, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, data platforms, system integration, and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with clinical operations, quality assurance, regulatory, finance, human resources, legal, and commercial readiness processes.
- Proven ability in technology roadmap development, investment evaluation, and communication to both technical and non-technical executives.
- Track record applying automation, analytics, and AI to enhance operational efficiency and business outcomes.
Compensation
The base salary ranges between 365000 to 420000 USD annually, exclusive of benefits and potential bonuses. Total compensation is influenced by the candidate's role, experience, education, skills, and location.
